On May 20th, we welcomed a group of American university students studying ceramics to Shigaraki.
That morning, they viewed the exhibition at the Shigaraki Museum, where they learned about the history of Shigaraki Pottery. And then visitedSoutoen for the pottery class.
In the afternoon they visited Shigaraki Share Studio and the studio of Shinohara Nozomu(http://anagama.net/).
After that, they went to the Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park), where they viewed an exhibition, and the Industry Exhibition Hall and the wood-fired kilns, and finally visiting the Artist in Residency Program at the Institute of Ceramic Studies.
Afterwards, they bought ceramic tools and materials atMaruni Toryo in front of the station, and then had dinner at Uosen.
It was a pretty packed schedule, but I'm glad that they were satisfied.
